Tucked away in the gardens of Achavoulin, Gille Ghagaich is a much-loved, converted steading offering a comfortable base for your island escape. With extensive gardens, a burn running through the grounds and the beach at Blackwaterfoot close by, it’s a place to slow down, breathe out and enjoy the best of Arran at your own pace.
Sleeping five guests as standard, the cottage works just as well for couples as it does for families. There is also an additional large downstairs bedroom available by separate arrangement.

Relaxed Living
The heart of the house is the welcoming sitting room with its glass-fronted woodburner, three-seater sofa and armchairs – perfect for curling up after a day in the hills. Wi-Fi, Freeview TV and a DVD player are on hand for quieter evenings in.
The kitchen and breakfast room is very well equipped, with a dining table that comfortably seats four to five guests and all the essentials including a dishwasher, washing machine and fridge-freezer.

Families are very welcome. A cot, highchair, booster seat and stair gate can be provided on request.
Comfort in Every Season
Upstairs you’ll find a flexible twin bedroom (which can be made up as a super-king) with its own ensuite shower room, and a family room with three single beds and an ensuite bathroom.
Gille Ghagaich is set up to be comfortable year-round. Central heating is included, and most beds have electric blankets, mattress toppers, and feather pillows/duvets to ensure a restful night’s sleep.
Gardens & Burn
One of the real joys of Gille Ghagaich is its setting. The cottage sits within extensive, mature gardens threaded by a burn and planted with rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias.
There is a private grassy area with garden table and chairs where you can sit out with a book, listen to the water and birdsong, or simply enjoy the evening light. The garden feels wonderfully tranquil and secluded, yet you are only a short distance from the amenities of Blackwaterfoot.
Discover Arran
Achavoulin lies close to Blackwaterfoot on Arran’s quieter west side, an ideal base for discovering ‘Scotland in miniature’.

Nature & Wildlife
Explore coastal paths and mountain ridges. Spot red deer, seals, and golden eagles, or enjoy a gentle stroll along the shore.

Golf & Heritage
A golfer’s paradise with seven courses on the island. Visit nearby Brodick Castle or distilleries at Lochranza and Lagg.
Local Amenities
Brodick, with its shops and brewery, is only 11 miles away, while Blackwaterfoot offers local amenities close by.

Arrival & Departure
Changeover day is Sunday. Arrival after 4pm, departure by 10am.
Linen Provided
Bed linen is included. Please bring your own beach towels & cot linen.

On-site parking is available at the cottage.
