Cosy “All-Weather” Comfort

Holiday Cottage on the Isle of Arran

Gille Ghagaich is perfect for the kind of holiday where you can completely switch off, whatever the weather is doing outside. This converted steading on Arran’s peaceful west coast is as inviting in January as it is in July, with thoughtful touches that make it easy to settle in, stay warm and feel at home.

Warmth, Glow and a Good Book

The heart of the cottage is the living room, where a glass-fronted woodburner turns even the wildest day into something rather lovely. Come back from a walk on the shore, light the fire and watch the flames through the glass as the room quickly fills with warmth. With a three-seater sofa, two armchairs and Freeview TV with DVD player, it is a natural gathering place for reading, chatting or a quiet film night while the wind rustles through the trees outside.

Central heating is included and runs on a timer in the mornings and evenings, keeping the cottage comfortably warm when you are getting up or winding down. Electric blankets on most beds and feather duvets add an extra layer of cosiness, so you can drift off feeling snug even on crisp winter nights.

A Fully Equipped Kitchen for Home-Made Meals

Self-catering here is designed to be easy and enjoyable, not a compromise. The kitchen and breakfast room are very well-equipped, with everything you need to cook simple suppers or more elaborate meals when you feel inspired. You will find “The Big Three” that make longer stays and winter breaks practical: a dishwasher to deal with the aftermath of hearty dinners, a washing machine for muddy walking gear, and a fridge/freezer for stocking up.

There is an electric oven and hob with extractor fan, microwave and a coffee filter machine, along with plenty of cookware, crockery and glassware. The dining table is perfectly sized for four or five guests, so you can linger over breakfast while planning the day, or sit down to an unhurried supper when the light fades early.

Comfortable Spaces to Retreat To

Upstairs, the bedrooms are designed with comfort in mind. The twin room can be made up as a super-king and has its own ensuite shower room, while the family room offers three single beds and an ensuite bathroom. All beds have mattress toppers and feather bedding, with electric blankets on most for that extra feeling of indulgence when it is chilly outside.

By separate arrangement, there is also the option of a large downstairs super-king bedroom with its own quiet seating area and a nearby shower room. This extra space can work well for guests who prefer to avoid the stairs, or simply want a peaceful corner to read and relax.

Winter-Friendly, Not Just for Summer

Arran is beautiful year-round, and Gille Ghagaich is set up so you can enjoy it in every season. After exploring mountain ridges, coastal paths or simply wandering through the gardens with their burn and hill views, you can return to a cottage that feels genuinely welcoming in all weathers. With reliable warmth, a crackling woodburner and a kitchen that encourages you to stay in and cook, it is as much a winter retreat as a summer base.

Whether you are planning bracing walks followed by evenings by the fire, or a quiet, restorative week away from it all, Gille Ghagaich offers cosy, all‑weather comfort on the Isle of Arran.
